Gabriel Avrămescu, first vice-president of the Financial Supervisory Authority (ASF), emphasized the importance of financial education as the primary mechanism for consumer protection, in the context of the rapid evolution of technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and cryptocurrencies. At the European Conference on Financial Services ECFS 2026, Avrămescu stated that financial education is becoming essential for navigating complex financial products and the associated risks.
The Authority also aims to raise the level of financial education among the population, through programs dedicated to all age groups. Additionally, Romania hosts the plenary meeting of Committee 8 within IOSCO, where the protection of retail investors and market transparency are discussed. This event reflects Romania's commitment to international standards and the development of a safe and accessible capital market.
