The annual inflation reached 10.9% in May 2026, according to INS, with a rate of 10.85% compared to the same month of the previous year.
The largest price increases were recorded in services, with 13.53%, while non-food goods increased by 12.54%. Food prices rose by 6.78%, with significant increases in coffee (21.12%), eggs (14.12%), and beef (11.58%). In the category of non-food goods, electricity prices increased by 55.49% after the removal of price caps, while fuels became more expensive by 30.55% for gasoline and 36.85% for diesel. Services recorded large increases, especially rents (43.56%) and water and sewage tariffs (15.35%).
