The proposed transaction between Anglo American and Teck Resources could create a mining entity with a market value of over 50 billion dollars, considering Teck's 17 billion capitalization. This comes after both companies rejected takeover offers from larger rivals, and Teck recently finalized a deal to sell its coal division. The acquisition would mark a significant expansion in copper production for Anglo American, which is also exploring options to sell its diamond business, De Beers.
