Amazon has announced a long-term investment of 20 billion dollars in the start-up Anthropic, known for developing artificial intelligence technologies. This investment comes after Amazon has already contributed 8 billion dollars in three funding rounds in 2023. The recent agreement involves the leasing of servers and processors with a total power of up to 5 gigawatts, which implies millions of chips, although the exact details have not been disclosed. The new commitment with Amazon Web Services (AWS) has a duration of ten years and targets a value of over 100 billion dollars. Anthropic will use AWS's Trainium processors, which are becoming a serious competitor to Nvidia. The demand for advanced AI models is continuously increasing, and Anthropic has recorded rapid revenue growth, having a value of 380 billion dollars. The company, founded by former OpenAI employees, plans to go public soon.
