Air cargo transport increased by 13.4% in the first quarter of 2026, reaching 14,510 tons

According to data published by the National Institute of Statistics, airport cargo transport, including postal services, recorded a significant increase of 13.4% in the first quarter of 2026, compared to the same period in the previous year, reaching a total of 14,510 tons, compared to 12,794 tons.


Henri Coandă Airport in Bucharest had the highest values, with 4,100 tons of cargo loaded and 7,000 tons unloaded. Avram Iancu Airport in Cluj-Napoca managed 700 tons loaded and 1,000 tons unloaded, while Traian Vuia Airport in Timișoara had 400 tons loaded and 700 tons unloaded.


The shares in domestic transport were significant, with Henri Coandă having 35.2% of the total tons loaded, Cluj-Napoca 38.1%, and Timișoara 26.7%. This increase reflects a positive trend in the air cargo transport sector.
