Laurian Lungu: Romania would have avoided the current budget deficit if the law of fiscal-budgetary responsibility had been respected
Călin Nicolescu
In the NewMoney.Talks podcast, economic analyst Laurian Lungu emphasized that the failure to comply with the law of fiscal-budgetary responsibility, adopted in 2010, has led to increased spending without a corresponding increase on the revenue side. He noted that in 2024, spending exceeded 2% of GDP without adequate sources of financing, which led to an acute budget deficit. Lungu criticized the implementation of the law, saying it is becoming a joke and that frequent derogations undermine its credibility.
