Vasile Frumuzache, a former Romanian security guard, was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Court of Assizes in Florence for the murder of escorts, also Romanians, Ana Maria Andrei and Maria Denisa Păun.

He was convicted of double aggravated homicide, without premeditation.

The sentence includes 18 months of isolation, and the man will have to compensate the families of the victims, Ana Maria Andrei and Maria Denisa Păun, and the association 'Insieme a Marianna', an organization for combating violence against women.

The investigation began after the disappearance of Maria Denisa Păun, who worked as a sex worker, in May 2025.

During the trial, he claimed that he acted out of panic after the victims threatened him.

Frumuzache admitted that he strangled Denisa Păun and later buried her in a wooded area. He also admitted during the trial to killing Ana Maria Andrei, whom he said he killed after the woman told him he was disgusting.

It is also noted that Frumuzache attempted to escape from prison, claiming that he wanted to protect his family from threats from the victims' relatives.
