A 44-year-old Romanian forestry worker suffered severe injuries following an accident that occurred on Monday morning in the Habergraben area, near St. Barbara im Mürztal, Austria. The incident took place in difficult forest terrain, at an altitude of approximately 1,100 meters, when a fallen tree struck another trunk, propelling it towards the worker.

He was violently struck and thrown into a tree, suffering serious injuries to his chest and spine. His colleagues quickly provided first aid; however, the intervention was delayed due to the lack of mobile phone signal in the area.

The rescue operation involved over 20 rescuers, including mountain rescue teams, firefighters, and the Red Cross, as well as a rescue helicopter. After stabilization, the man was transported on a stretcher for a distance of 60 meters to a clearing, from where he was lifted by a winch and taken urgently to the hospital in Graz. Authorities have begun investigations, confirming that the accident was caused by an unfortunate chain of events, without the involvement of other individuals.
