In Turin, Romanians dominate foreign entrepreneurship, having 7,130 registered firms, which represents 23% of the total 31,000 businesses run by foreigners. They form the largest foreign community in the city, with 87,702 non-Italian citizens. The economic profile of Romanians has changed significantly since the first waves of migration, as they are now involved in various fields, not just in basic services. Their contribution is essential for the functioning of the city, and approximately 2,000 young Romanians study at universities in Turin, preparing for diverse careers.
However, the number of Romanians in Turin has recently decreased, partly due to the return to the country, accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic. Nevertheless, the Romanian community continues to celebrate and integrate into local life, demonstrating their attachment to the city that offers them opportunities.
