Austria is shaken by a serious case in which the lifeless body of a newborn girl was found at the border crossing point in Nickelsdorf. The main suspect is a Romanian woman who arrived by bus from Romania. Surveillance footage shows her getting off the bus with a black bag, which she abandoned next to a trash bin. Travelers alerted the authorities after noticing the bag, and medical crews declared the girl dead, as she showed no signs of life.
Initially, it was believed that the girl had died from hypothermia, but the autopsy determined that she was the victim of a homicide, with the cause of death being a cranio-cerebral trauma. Investigators suspect that the woman gave birth near the border point and that she was assisted by the bus driver to abandon the bag. The police in Burgenland continue the search for the identification of the woman and the bus, extending investigations into Germany as well. The case is being treated as murder, and the investigation is ongoing.
