The World Congress of Syriac Studies, the 14th edition, opened on Monday at the Palace of Parliament, bringing together specialists from around the world. Former president Emil Constantinescu emphasized the shared responsibility in building a culture of peace, stating that dialogue is essential for preventing radicalization.

Dr. habil. Cătălin-Ștefan Popa, general director of the Levant Institute, highlighted Romania's privilege of hosting this event, which serves as a meeting point between East and West. The messages conveyed by religious leaders, including His Holiness Bartholomew I, underscored the importance of the congress theme, "Peace and dialogue, prerequisites for protecting material and immaterial heritage."

Patriarch Ignatius Aphrem II expressed joy in organizing the congress in Romania, emphasizing the shared responsibility in protecting cultural heritage. The official opening was attended by prominent figures from public and religious life, highlighting the commitment to interreligious dialogue and cooperation.
