A vegetation fire broke out on Monday in the Danube Delta, near Babina Island, Tulcea County. Military firefighters from the Tulcea Detachment were mobilized to extinguish the hotspots and prevent the spread of flames to the forested area.
The intervention is complicated by difficult access to the area, which is why the multi-role vessel of ISU Tulcea is being used, along with personnel from the Forestry Office and volunteers from the Chilia Volunteer Emergency Service, who are contributing with a boat.
Raed Arafat, head of the Department for Emergency Situations, emphasized the importance of water intervention equipment, purchased with European funds, to facilitate access to the hotspots.
So far, the authorities have not communicated the area affected by the fire or its cause.
