The U.S. Ambassador to Bucharest, Darryl Nirenberg, stated that "Romania is welcome to apply again" for the Visa Waiver Program, emphasizing that "the United States of America is grateful to Romania for its efforts regarding border security."
According to him, the partnership between the United States and Romania has never been stronger, highlighting Romania's strategic importance in the Black Sea region and on NATO's eastern flank.
In an interview with Agerpres, Nirenberg highlighted Romania's potential to revolutionize the energy sector in Central and Eastern Europe, mentioning that the strategic partnership, which will celebrate 30 years next year, covers areas such as defense, security, and trade relations. The ambassador confirmed the U.S. commitment to NATO and discussed upcoming meetings, including the possibility of President Trump attending the Bucharest 9 meeting.
Nirenberg also addressed the topic of the Visa Waiver program, mentioning that Romania is welcome to apply again.
In the context of cooperation on rare minerals, the ambassador emphasized the importance of securing supply chains for electronic products.
