Recently, archaeologists discovered a funerary hypogeum from the 4th century in the Roman necropolis northwest of the city of Tomis, having a cross-shaped plan and three vaulted chambers. This discovery is unique in Dobrogea, having similarities with tombs from catacombs, and preserves plaster decorated with figures. The monument will be protected and conserved with the help of the Ministry of Culture. This discovery will be presented during the European Heritage Days in 2025.
