Uber has announced a partnership with Starship Technologies to implement robotic deliveries through the Eats app in two cities in the UK, Leeds and Sheffield, starting in December. The robots, equipped with six wheels, will travel on sidewalks and manage deliveries over short distances, up to 3.2 km, within a maximum interval of 30 minutes.
This initiative will be expanded to other European cities by 2026, and by 2027 the robots will also be available in the United States. The partnership with Starship is part of a series of collaborations by Uber with various autonomous vehicle companies, and Starship Technologies currently operates 3,000 robots that perform deliveries in 270 locations worldwide.
