The press office of the General Directorate of Police of Bucharest (DGPMB) informed that the police in Bucharest fired a warning shot to stop two young men who tried to flee from a control on Nicolae Titulescu Road. During the chase, one of the suspects threw a bag containing a plant substance suspected to be a drug, and the two were subsequently immobilized and taken for questioning.
On June 24, around 8:20 PM, the police from the 4th Police Station observed two young men with suspicious behavior on Nicolae Titulescu Road. At the moment they were stopped for checks, the two fled in different directions. One police officer managed to immobilize a 23-year-old, while the other was pursued by another police officer. The latter, after the young man did not respond to the orders, fired a warning shot in a vertical plane, and the 24-year-old complied and was caught.
During the chase, one of the young men threw a bag with a plant substance, suspected to be psychoactive, under a car. The bag was retrieved and will be handed over to the competent authorities for investigation.
The police confirmed that the intervention did not result in human casualties or material damage, and investigations continue to establish the full situation.
