A joint operation of the State Police and the International Police Cooperation Service from Italy led to the rescue of a young Romanian woman, a victim of human trafficking. Two Romanians, a man and a woman, were arrested on charges of kidnapping, drugging, and forcing a minor into prostitution. The girl was contacted on social media with the promise of a job, but she was forced to consume illegal substances and was transported to Italy, where she was stripped of her documents and phone.
The aggressors threatened her with violence and posted pornographic photos of her on dating sites. The rescue came after the victim managed to contact the General Consulate of Romania. The Carabinieri intervened quickly, identifying the residence where she was held and confiscating the equipment used to monitor her. The two suspects are accused of kidnapping, slavery, human trafficking, and other crimes, and the Italian police continue investigations to uncover the network exploiting minors.
