Botoșani Police detained two men who intentionally damaged vehicles to obtain compensation from insurance, causing a loss of over 150,000 lei.

Two men from the town of Ștefănești, Botoșani, were apprehended by police for fraud, being suspected of intentionally damaging vehicles in order to conclude false amicable settlements and collect compensation from insurance companies.


Following five home searches, documents, mobile phones, and other relevant evidence were seized. The estimated damage from the criminal activity exceeds 150,000 lei. The two men, aged 35 and 38, were brought to the police with summons, and after hearings, they were detained for 24 hours, being accused of forgery in private documents and attempted fraud. They will be presented to the court with a proposal for preventive detention.
