The police in Ploiești arrested two men, aged 39 and 44, accused of blackmailing a 76-year-old woman. They allegedly posed as cemetery inspectors, misleading the victim and demanding money under the pretext of not applying legal measures related to arrangements in a cemetery.

Between May 2025 and April 2026, the woman handed over a total of approximately 70,000 lei to the two men. The police organized a sting operation, catching one of the suspects while receiving money from the victim. After hearings, the two were detained for 24 hours and are to be presented to the prosecutor's office for further legal measures.
