The Bucharest Tribunal is facing delays in approving the new statute of the National Liberal Party (PNL), registered on July 7, after two judges filed requests for recusal. On July 16, Judge Mihaela Luciani was the first to request recusal, and the request was approved.
The case was then assigned to Judge Evelina Vîlcu, who, in turn, filed a request for recusal on July 20, which was approved without the possibility of appeal. Mihaela Luciani is known for suspending, on July 8, all decisions adopted by the PNL during the Extraordinary Congress on June 21, arguing that the decisions were made based on an unimplemented statute. These recusals complicate the approval process of the PNL statute, which is essential for the functioning of the party.
