Mehmet Erdogan, a Turkish citizen, has been sent to trial for attempted murder after he fired gunshots on the terrace of a club in the Old Town.

The prosecutors of the Bucharest Tribunal have sent Mehmet Erdogan, a 27-year-old Turkish citizen, to trial for attempted murder, violation of weapon regulations, illegal use of a firearm, and disturbing public order. The incident occurred in August 2025, when Erdogan fired gunshots on the terrace of a club in the Old Town, targeting the security guards of the venue, following a previous conflict.

In the same case, three accomplices have also been sent to trial, accused of instigating attempted murder and other crimes. Investigators established that Erdogan entered Romania with a well-defined plan, carrying illegal 9 mm caliber lethal pistols. One of the accomplices coordinated the attack, providing the attacker with the necessary funding and logistics.
