The former judge of the Constitutional Court, Tudorel Toader, stated that the CCR's decision regarding the magistrates' pension law is predictable and that it will be declared constitutional. He emphasized that, although there are objections of unconstitutionality, political pressure and the use of the subject as an electoral campaign theme will influence the court's decision. Toader highlighted that the issue is not only financial but also a division in Romanian society, which has led to the antagonization of civil society against judges.
He also mentioned that the CCR must decide in accordance with constitutional values, not based on external pressures. The president of the CCR, Simina Tănăsescu, announced that discussions about the magistrates' pension law have been postponed for the third time, with the next deadline set for January 16.
