In 2023, more than 17,200 Romanians received travel insurance claims, an increase of 22% from the previous year. Insurance companies paid out an average of €33,000 per day, with the majority of the claims being for medical services. The highest compensation was around 300,000 lei, and 3% of claims were for lost luggage and trip cancellations. UNSAR underlines the importance of insurance in dealing with unforeseen holiday situations.
