Former president Traian Băsescu expressed a feeling of humiliation regarding the recent images of mayor Nicușor Dan, suggesting that a simple solution, such as calling a TAROM plane, could have resolved the situation. Băsescu emphasized that these moments affect Romania's image and acknowledged that they are painful for someone who held the presidency for ten years. Regarding the political future, he avoided directly answering whether Nicușor Dan could become the best president post-1989, suggesting that the lack of strong candidates could influence the outcome of future elections.

Additionally, Băsescu criticized the current governing coalition for slow decisions and internal disputes that affect the Executive's ability to govern effectively. He pointed out that the notion of "coalition" is not mentioned in the Constitution of Romania, and political blockages hinder the management of national interest. Băsescu stated that the government must act quickly, without relying on delays, and accused the politicians in the coalition of prioritizing party interests to the detriment of national ones.
