Fatal accident at a level crossing with the railway in the locality of Peciu Nou in Timiș

A 71-year-old man died after the car he was driving was violently struck by a train at a level crossing in the commune of Peciu Nou, Timiș County. The accident occurred around 10:00 AM, and firefighters from the 2nd Timișoara Detachment intervened with two rescue vehicles, a fire truck, and SMURD teams.

The driver of the car was trapped and was removed from the vehicle in a state of unconsciousness, but did not respond to resuscitation efforts, and the doctor was forced to declare him dead. There was also a dog in the car, and on the train, which was traveling on the Cruceni - Timișoara Nord route, there were approximately 30 passengers who did not require medical attention. The Timiș Police have opened a criminal case for manslaughter following this tragic accident.
