Toyota has announced its intention to produce a fully electric model in Europe, at the plant in the Czech Republic, marking its first entry into this segment in the region. The total investment amounts to 680 million euros for the expansion of the Kolin plant, where the Aygo X and Yaris Hybrid models are currently manufactured. Additionally, the Czech government will contribute 64 million euros for a new battery factory. Although Toyota has been more reserved in adopting electric vehicles compared to its rivals, it plans to launch new electric models in 2025 and 2026 for the Toyota and Lexus brands.
