The National Institute of Statistics (INS) reported a decline in tourism in Romania in 2025, with approximately 13.9 million arrivals in accommodation units, marking a decrease of 2.4% compared to the previous year.

Of the total arrivals, 81.4% were Romanian tourists, while foreign tourists represented only 18.6%, indicating a low presence of them in the country. The majority of foreign tourists came from Germany (approximately 246,500), Italy (225,000), and Israel (182,600). Regarding overnight stays, there were 29.7 million recorded, a decrease of 1.7% compared to 2024, with an average length of stay of 2.1 days. The net occupancy rate of accommodation places was 29.8%, indicating pressure on the industry. The most popular destinations were Bucharest, Constanta, and Brașov, but the data suggests a general reduction in arrivals and a modest share of foreign tourists.
