Prosecutors from Constanța announced the investigation of seven individuals, three Romanians and four Bulgarians, for smuggling. On June 11, 2026, they transported and stored 14,216,940 cigarettes of the Compliment brand in a truck parking lot in Ilfov County, after they were illegally introduced into Romania through the Constanța Sud customs point.

These goods, known to be from smuggling, caused a total damage of 14,872,078.2 lei, including excise duties, customs taxes, and VAT. The seven individuals were caught in the act by the Constanța Organized Crime Fighting Brigade and were presented to the Constanța Court, which decided on preventive arrest for 30 days.
