Three people accused of theft and bank fraud in Bucharest. They allegedly robbed a tourist in the Old Town.

Three individuals are being investigated by the Prosecutor's Office near the Bucharest Tribunal for aggravated theft and bank fraud, after they took advantage of the vulnerability of a foreign tourist under the influence of alcohol.

On May 2, 2026, two of the accused approached the victim in the Historic Center of Bucharest, later leading her to an apartment where they stole belongings, including bank cards and a sum of money. They accessed the victim's banking application and transferred 10,000 euros to an account opened in the name of the third defendant. The money was subsequently withdrawn in cash.

Two of the individuals involved have been placed in preventive detention for 30 days, while the third is being investigated under judicial control. The actions were coordinated by prosecutors and police officers, who conducted five searches in Bucharest.
