The Prosecutor's Office next to the Court of Sector 2 Bucharest has sent three defendants to trial accused of extortion and aggravated robbery, in preventive detention.

Between August 2020 and May 2025, they operated in Bucharest and the counties of Ilfov, Prahova, and Dâmbovița, presenting themselves under false names as roof repairmen. After evaluating the work at reasonable prices, they would return with teams of workers, stripping the roofs and performing minimal work.

The victims were forced to pay amounts much higher than those initially agreed upon, under the threat that the work would be delayed. The defendants obtained amounts between 13,000 and 198,000 lei, causing a total damage of approximately 350,000 lei. Additionally, a seizure was ordered on 7 vehicles and 4 properties, and the preventive measures included the detention and preventive arrest of some defendants. The investigation continues for other similar offenses.
