The Ministry of Development announced that, until January 1, 2030, there are no legal restrictions regarding the use of individual gas-fired boilers in new residential buildings. However, starting January 1, 2025, public subsidies for the installation of autonomous boilers based on fossil fuels will no longer be granted, according to a European directive. This does not prohibit the installation of gas boilers, but eliminates financial support. For existing buildings, the deadline for energy renovation and transformation into zero-emission buildings is 2050. The European directive requires that new buildings be zero-emission buildings (ZEB) starting January 1, 2030, and for public buildings, from 2028. Until then, new buildings must comply with nZEB standards, as defined in national legislation. The Ministry emphasizes that there is no legal basis to limit the use of gas boilers in new residential buildings until 2030, contradicting claims that they would be prohibited in nZEB buildings.
