The Bucharest Transport Company (STB) organized an event on Sunday at the Militari Depot to mark the official withdrawal from circulation of the Tatra trams, which have been an integral part of public transport in Bucharest for 53 years.

Thousands of Bucharest residents participated in the event, boarding the trams and photographing their details. STB announced that six trams will be preserved as heritage pieces, while the others will be permanently withdrawn.

The Tatra T4R trams, produced by ČKD Tatra, entered circulation in 1973 and became a symbol of public transport in Bucharest. They are now being replaced by modern trams equipped with advanced facilities.
