The Romanian state has initiated the procedure for recovering damages from the case of former minister Darius Vâlcov by capitalizing on his art collection. The auction, organized by the Artmark auction house, has already generated revenues of over 100,000 euros in the first round, and the interest from collectors remains high.
Among the works put up for sale are pieces signed by great artists such as Pablo Picasso and Nicolae Grigorescu. A notable moment was the auctioning of a famous portrait by Nicolae Tonitza for approximately 76,000 euros. These works were confiscated following the final conviction of Darius Vâlcov for corruption and money laundering, and the auction continues to attract public attention.
