The relics of Saint George have arrived in Romania at the Pantocrator Monastery in Teleorman

The relics of Saint George were brought to Romania from Mount Athos on Wednesday, at the Pantocrator Monastery in Teleorman County, on the occasion of the saint's feast day, on April 23. This is the first time these relics have arrived in the country, brought by a delegation led by Archimandrite Alexios.

Hundreds of believers have already lined up to venerate. The relics will remain at the monastery until April 28, having a special reception and procession program.

Saint George, originally from Cappadocia, was a Roman commander who chose to confess his faith in the face of the persecutions initiated by Emperor Diocletian, being executed in the year 303. The Pantocrator Monastery, dedicated to Saint Mary Magdalene, was built on the ruins of a former hospital from World War I, and construction began in 2012.

Pilgrims are expected to venerate the relics until April 28, an important period for those named George.
