The prefect of Argeș County, Sebastian Nedelcu, sparked controversy after sending a press release that included part of a conversation with a chatbot.

The release, which announced a cleaning action in the Zăvoi area of Ștefănești, was quickly deleted after the inappropriate content was noticed.

The prefect confirmed that he uses artificial intelligence for drafting press releases, mentioning that the institution does not have dedicated communication staff. He categorized the incident as a lapse in attention, emphasizing that AI is also used for other administrative activities.

The initial release detailed information about the cleaning action, mentioning the impact of waste on public health and the environment. Additionally, the prefect warned about monitoring the area to prevent illegal waste dumping.
