The military personnel from the Ministry of National Defense resumed today the controlled detonation operation of the Pârjoaia dam to divert a larger amount of water from the Danube towards the Nuclear Power Plant in Cernavodă. The first attempt failed, which is why the teams used a larger explosive charge of 100 kilograms this time.

After the destruction of the Pârjoaia dam, dredging works and the placement of barges on the Bala branch will follow to redirect the water towards the Old Danube. The necessary equipment for these operations is already on site.

The detonation was carried out in the context where the flow of the Danube is expected to drop to 1,400 m³/s, close to the historical minimum.
