The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania has issued a travel warning for Portugal due to a red code for severe weather valid from January 23 to 25, 2026.

The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) has declared a red code for severe weather phenomena, affecting the northern continental area and the western coastline. Extreme intensifications of wind are expected, with gusts of up to 90 km/h, as well as heavy precipitation, hail, and snowfall in mountainous areas. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends citizens to follow official information and to comply with the instructions of the Portuguese authorities. Romanian citizens can request consular assistance at the Romanian Embassy in Lisbon, and in case of emergency, they can call the emergency phone of the diplomatic mission.
