The Ministry of Development has launched a bill that will allow for stricter control over properties in Romania, through changes to the rules regarding tax secrecy and data exchange between institutions. The state will be able to correlate information from satellites, cadastre, notaries, and tax records to identify undeclared buildings and land. A significant change is the removal of protection for taxpayers' identification data, allowing authorities to more easily access information about their owned assets and debts. ANAF will send municipalities data about real estate transactions, creating a national platform, PatrimVen, which will correlate information from various sources. This will allow the state to compare the reality on the ground with official documents, uncovering undeclared constructions. Owners who have not updated their documents will be required to pay tax on the actual area of their properties, thus contributing to the increase of local budget revenues. The government aims to eliminate the gray area of undeclared properties, ensuring a fair tax contribution from all property owners.
