The Minister of Health, Alexandru Rogobete, declared on Tuesday that the process of allocating positions and places for the Residency contest was carried out without a clear estimate, relying on the suggestions of universities and without taking into account essential demographic data. He emphasized that it was not known how many doctors would retire in the next five years, which led to a discrepancy in the system. This year, the ministry will use demographic data to determine the number of available places, considering age groups and retirements by specialties. Rogobete mentioned that balancing the system will not happen immediately, but will require 5-6 years to reach an optimal situation. The statements were made during the Healthcare Forum 2026 event, organized by 'Adevărul.'
