The major trade union confederations in Romania, including 'Cartel ALFA', CNSLR Frăția, CSDR and the National Trade Union Confederation Meridian, have announced a large-scale protest action on October 29, 2025, in front of the Government. The trade unionists emphasize that they no longer accept being victims of a system that promotes austerity, considered a sign of the incompetence of those in power. They are calling for the collective mobilization of workers, pensioners, and youth, demanding concrete measures to protect their rights.

Among the protesters' demands are a decent minimum wage, adequate pensions, respect for the legal rights of workers, stopping austerity measures, defending jobs, and restoring railway infrastructure. The trade unionists accuse that austerity measures have affected all professional categories, while the privileged in politics have not felt the impact of these cuts.
