The Minister of Health has said that legislation will be amended to force doctors in public hospitals to prioritize contracts with the National Health Insurance House in the public sector, thus eliminating the possibility of sending patients to the private sector. The change aims to correct a legislative anomaly that allowed doctors to have contracts with the CNAS in the private sector, which affected patients' access to equipment in state hospitals. Also, uninsured patients will continue to benefit from medical services reimbursed under national chronic disease programs.
