Dr. Gabriel Gorun, chief physician of forensic medicine, emphasized the importance of the new pediatric forensic medical office inaugurated at INML, which provides a safe and adapted environment for children who require forensic expertise.
In the past, children had to wait in the same area with individuals with various issues, which created a traumatic context. In 2024, 500 children were examined for physical and sexual assaults, and by November 2025, 370 children had been evaluated. The director of INML highlighted that this pilot project is essential for protecting and respecting the rights of child victims, ensuring that they feel that the harm has ended. The initiative, supported by the Association for Victims of Sexual Crimes and the Notar 2006 Foundation, aims to be replicated in other forensic medicine institutions across the country.
