In Timiș, 76 elderly people were discovered in inhumane conditions in a facility called "the horror asylum" in Cenad. They were housed in abject misery, sleeping on mattresses placed directly on the floor, and the windows were covered with tin foil. Their care was provided by three foreign citizens, and the owner of the home, Diana Roșu, was taken in for questioning by the authorities. The case has been taken over by the police in Timiș, who have opened a criminal case for practicing a profession without a license. The medical condition of some of the elderly is serious, and 10 of them required transport to the hospital. The authorities have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances under which the elderly were kept and have decided to relocate them to licensed centers, where they will receive appropriate care. The mayor of Cenad stated that the fundamental rights of the elderly have been violated.
