The Romanian government will organize an online meeting at 12 PM to analyze two scenarios regarding large industrial consumers.

The first scenario, the preventive one, is optimistic and involves requesting 80 companies with an annual consumption of over 50,000 megawatt-hours to voluntarily reduce their energy consumption between the hours of 6 PM and 11 PM.

If these companies do not cooperate, the crisis scenario may occur, which would involve the forced disconnection of large consumers by the Energy Dispatch Center to prevent network overload. Among the largest consumers are the steel sector, construction, and the automotive industry, which can consume up to 3 terawatt-hours annually, representing almost 10% of Romania's total electricity consumption.

Consumption reduction will be mandatory for companies under the Government's authority and will apply for a short period of approximately two weeks.
