The government adopted on Tuesday the emergency ordinances for cuts in administration and the economic recovery package, after months of delays. Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan emphasized the importance of these measures, which aim to reduce administrative expenses and introduce a tax credit.


During the meeting, police officers protested in Victory Square, demanding the withdrawal of the announced measures. The Economic and Social Council issued an unfavorable opinion on the cuts, considering them constitutionally vulnerable, but gave a favorable opinion for the recovery package, with observations. The protests from the police and criticisms from the unions suggest a strong backlash against these measures, which could affect the stability of public function and the quality of services.
