The Minister of Energy, Bogdan Ivan, announced the restart of the gas power plant in Brazi, which had been on stand-by due to problems with the supply of technological water. The first turbine has started to supply approximately 300 MW to the National Energy System, ensuring that Romania has enough energy for the domestic market. The plant is expected to operate at full capacity from December 8. Representatives of OMV Petrom confirmed collaboration with the authorities for the resumption of production, emphasizing that effective crisis management was essential.
The plant was shut down due to malfunctions at the Paltinu dam, which led to increased water turbidity, affecting the operation of the turbine. This situation also had effects on the supply of drinking water for over 100,000 people in Prahova and Dâmbovița. To compensate for the production deficit, the lignite group 6 at Rovinari was started. The minister assured that Romania has sufficient resources to manage unforeseen situations and that measures are being worked on to prevent similar blockages in the future.
