The French supplier Alstom has placed a lien on Metrorex's accounts, putting pressure on the salary payments of employees. The conflict arose due to delays in the commissioning of the 13 Metropolis trains, purchased in 2020 for Line M5. Although the contract was signed with a delivery term of 30 months, the trains have not received the necessary approvals and are still in testing.
Negotiations to resolve the conflict have been unsuccessful, and the deadline for an amicable resolution has been canceled. Alstom contests the penalties imposed by Metrorex for delays and refuses to reinstate the performance guarantee. The lien on the accounts affects the operation of Metrorex and risks delays in salary payments, with the advance scheduled for November 27. This is not the first time Metrorex has faced such financial problems, having a similar situation in 2024 with WeBuild.
