The Federation of Free Trade Unions in Education (FSLI) and the Federation of Trade Unions in Education 'SPIRU HARET' reported on Monday an alarming situation in educational units in Romania, where teachers are subjected to unprecedented pressures and intimidation to participate in the simulations of national exams. The unions state that, despite a referendum showing the desire to boycott these simulations, many teachers are being forced to sign for participation.
The management of educational units and school inspectorates are accused of acting as instruments of the Ministry of Education, forcing teachers to participate in activities deemed unnecessary. Union representatives emphasize that recent government measures have led to a dramatic decrease in the purchasing power of education employees, and boycotting the simulations is seen as an act of dignity and a signal of protest.
They announce that the boycott will be implemented in many educational units and that the results of the referendum will be postponed. The simulation of the National Assessment is scheduled for next week, and the unions reaffirm their commitment to fight for the rights of teachers.
