The draft provides for magistrates to retire at the age of 65, with a phased increase in the age and seniority requirement from 25 to 35 years. The pension will be capped at 70% of final income, and early retirement will attract penalties of 2% a year. Constitutional Court judges are exempt from the rules, as they have a separate law. Toader believes that the new measures offer predictability in magistrates' careers and that the bill will be approved by the CCR.
