The Ministry of Energy announced, on Sunday afternoon, that the controlled sinking operation of the barges on the Danube has begun to produce the desired effects, with a water level increased by 4 centimeters in the area of the Cernavodă Power Plant.
This intervention has allowed for the maintenance of the necessary conditions for the operation of Unit 2 for at least the next nine days, despite forecasts indicating a decrease. The first two barges were sunk on Friday, and the last two on Saturday evening, under difficult conditions.
The Ministry of Energy emphasized the importance of this operation for the stability of the National Electric Power System and thanked all the institutions involved. The hydrological situation will be closely monitored, and the necessary measures for the safety of electricity supply will be adapted based on developments on the ground.
